Heavy eyelids: the key to looking seductive.

Wardobe for the shoot. Furocious!

Astrid taking a seat for some close up jewelry shots.

Astrid has fantastic icy blue eyes.

Onward march!

Me texting in the corner. Normally I do jumping jacks on shoots though.

Photographer Don Loyaga and I have been meaning to do a shoot together, so when he informed me last Sunday he was leaving to the Philippines and had three days before leaving to get this show on the road I couldn't really procrastinate any longer. I now know I can pull enough clothing and create a concept for a shoot in 24 hours given enough flexibility. This shoot had 5 looks to be exact. I still have to return some of the clothing (my least favorite part of styling).

This shoot was for upcoming Calgary fashion magazine Magnolia. It will be used in promotion and media kits. It's great to know my work will be used towards helping launch a fashionable initiative locally. There are a great many of us here pioneering the fashion industry in Calgary and I feel really grateful being one of them.

Behind the Scenes Summer 2012

I am a terrible blogger. I never keep my word. I'm all "I'll totally start updating again! Every day! " and then a whole lotta time passes...zOMG you guys! Did I just not blog for like a year? OOPSIE.

Anyways, I thought I would share some behind the scene shots from the three big editorials I did in June (Mad Women -Retro-modern glam), July (Jolene - My take on Western wear), and August (Bad Apple - Naughty school girl to be published in Hacid soon).

I learned a lot from each shoot and was happy with the results of each. I have to say, it's not easy being a stylist. There's a lot of financial risk, it's very physically demanding, you need to be unusually flexible as photoshoots are very dynamic with all their elements but then you also need to be well planned because you're working with a team towards an agreed upon vision, and working with a group of passionate people is a whole other story, and I could go on!

It's amazing though to see your imagination played out. It's like nothing else. Not even butter chicken! *has a bit of an unhealthy obsession with butter chicken* Like Vonda in the red coat above. I day dreamed about that studying for my law school exams for days! And then I made it happen (with the help of a great team of course). That exact vision was in my head and there it be and it blows my friggen mind!!! I can't wait to hammer out a couple more shoots this year :)

Till next year.... hahah jk I hope :)

Let's Get Medieval.

  S Moda September 2012

Model: Ella Kandyba and Nadine Ponce
Photography: Satoshi Saikusa
Styling: Francesca Rinciari

Did you just say it's still 2012? aww....man! That kind of puts a damper on my gold plated breasts .

Can we please all just teleport back to the Middle Ages and have like an enchanted forest rave now or something? Maybe call some elves and wizards and all hangout at  Sir Drunkst William the III's castle and drink the blood of a righteous man?

...no? we can't? ....that's not like...an option? oh...okay... *bows YSL iron helmet in defeat*

Pino Leone for BAMBI Magazine

I have no clue what photographers do to achieve the lighting they do, but whatever Pino did to achieve this warm glow is BLOWING MY EFFING MIND.

Too much fun!!! Oh, if only life could always be this fun! Thank you Simon for making my day a little more bright.

Ashley Olsen: Cozy Chic

(credit olsen obsessive)

Dear Ashley,

How do you do it? You look more comfortable than a high school student roaming the locker bay in pajamas and yet you don't look frumpy or distasteful at all. Au contraire -you look on the cutting edge of fashion. You appear to have invented some sort of relaxed avant-guarde sub genre. I don't understand. I mean, are those Birkenstocks? Please quit defying style logic. You're confusing me and the rest of the world who thought they had this whole fashion thing figured out.

Sincerely,

Your lowly online style stalker
